Output Devices

 Output Devices

Output Devices:- The device which converts the machine language results into the language which human easily understands of the computer machine. Such types of devices are known as Output Devices. Mostly used Output Devices are given below.

(1.)       Monitors: - It is just like television where we can able to see pictures, information’s, songs, videos, movies etc. It is also known as Visual Display Unit (VDU). There are some important and basic terms of the Monitor. Which are explained as follows:

(i)            Pixel: - The picture which is shown on the computer screen or we can say Monitor is made from various small small dots. These dots are called as Pixels.

(ii)         Aspect Ratio: - The ratio of the length and breadth of the computer screen is defined as the Aspect Ratio. Mostly monitor screens aspect ratio is 16:9.

(iii)       Resolution: - The multiplication of the horizontal and vertical pixels shown on the computer screen is defined as Resolution. It tells about the number of dots or pixels in an image. Standard Resolution of any image is 800X600 or 1024X768. Resolution should be measured in Dot per Inch (DPI) or Pixel per Inch (PPI).

(iv)       Bit Mapping: - The combined presenting of text along with the picture by a specific technique. Such technique is described as Bit Mapping technique.

(v)         Refresh Rate: - The picture shown on the screen is how many times refreshed or we can say an image is refreshed how many times is known as the Refresh Rate of that particular image. The Refresh Rate of a Monitor is measured in Hertz.

(vi)       Dot Pitch: - The Difference between two different pixels is called as Dot Pitch. The image or screen should be clearer if the difference between two pixels is very minimal.

Types of Monitors:
(1.)Color Display Monitors: - these types of monitors use 256    colors to display the output. Whether it is text, image, song, video, movie etc.
(2.)Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) Monitors: - It consists of a tube in which there is an electronic gun is located through which electronic rays are transformed into pictures or images on the screen.
(3.) Monochrome Monitors: - Such types of Monitors use only one type of color to display the output. Whether it is text, image, song, video, movie etc.
(4.) Flat Panel Display (FPD) Monitors: - These types of monitors are of lighter weight and thin in comparison of CRT Monitors. They show high resolution and clearer images on the screen. Examples of FPD Monitors are: Light Emitting Diode (LED), and Gas – Plasma Display (GPD).

(5.)Thin Film Transistor (TFT) Monitors: - In these types of monitors transistor is mainly used for displaying the pixels on the screen. It allows the electricity flow to start and stop the display very faster and the picture quality is also very much brighter and speed is also very fast in comparison to other type of monitors. Example: Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)

(1.)        Plotters: - It is also a type of printer but it is mostly to print the high quality and resolution pictures and graphs and is used by engineers in city planning, maps, Construction fields. It is one of the best printers.

(2.)        Projector: - It is used to display the information or data which it gets through the computer on a big screen. It is mostly used in Class Rooms, Conference Halls, Multiplex, Training Purpose, IT Companies etc.

(3.)       Speaker: - It displays the output information in audio format. It is mainly used in Multimedia. Sound Card is used to get the output in audio format.

(4.)       Printers: - It displays the output in the form of a hard copy. Types of printers: -

    (i)  Impact Printers: - It is also of two types:

(1.) Line Printer: - It prints one line at a time. It is of three                types:

                            (i)  Chain Printer

                           (ii) Drum Printer

                           (iii)Band Printer

(2.) Serial Printer: - It is also of two types:

                            (i) Dot Matrix Printer: - It prints the alphabets in                           the form of different dots.

(ii) Daisy Wheel Printer: - In this printer printing                             work is done with the help of a wheel.

(II) Non Impact Printers: - It is of three types:

(i)Laser Printer: - In this printer laser rays are used for printing. Toner is used in this printer. Laser printer is used in photocopier machines.

(ii) Inkjet Printer: - In this ink is spreaded through jet and after it printing process is started.

(iii) Thermal Printer: - Thermo chromic paper is used in this type of printers.

Speed of printers should be measured in page per minute
